Reading for Fun

Reading for Fun

Remember those summer reading challenges from your school days? We don’t have a challenge for you, but we do have some suggestions for books to read (or re-read) this summer. We like what best-selling poet and essayist Kathleen Norris says about reading: “Just the knowledge that a good book is awaiting one at the end of a long day makes that day happier.” We want to be a part of making our apartment community here at Woodview at Randolph happier through reading, so we’ve put together a list of good books for our residents to add to their “to read” list, complete with reviews from Goodreads.com. Something Savory, Something Sweet — Celebrating Pi Day

Something Savory, Something Sweet — Celebrating Pi Day

How far can you recite pi? If you answered Cherry, Apple, Pecan, Blueberry, we know that in your heart you love wordplay and are definitely a Pi Day fan. The number π is, of course, the mathematical constant, the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, approximately equal to 3.14159, which goes on to infinity and beyond. We take the first three digits, 3.14, and read them as a date: Pi Day, March 14th. Whether you like the idea of a savory pie for dinner at your Woodview at Randolph apartment followed by a slice of pie for dessert, or heading out to your favorite Randolph area bakery to simply bring a pie home, we’ve got you covered. Honey, Nature’s Sweetener

Honey, Nature’s Sweetener

Imagine a fresh-from-the-oven loaf of bread, still warm slathered in butter and nearly dripping with golden honey — that image may bring back childhood memories of visiting grandma’s house. Perhaps it will even have you heading out to the nearest Randolph grocery store to pick up more honey. We recommend trying lavender honey or creamed honey for a change.  September is National Honey Month. In today’s blog post, we have some honey trivia and some recipes that feature honey, too.
